The Beatles tribute band known as the Fab Four began their journey in Southern California in 1997. Off-stage, their keyboardist-either Mark Beyer or Chris Smallwood-replicates audio from The Beatles’ later records. Throughout each RAIN production, they alternate performers, each resembling a member of The Beatles. To this day, the band tours the United States and transports audiences back in time to the 1960s. In 2019, as part of the In Residence on Broadway series, RAIN has even performed on stage with such original artists as Morrisey, Regina Spektor, Yanni, Mel Brooks, and Criss Angel. Their hit then moved over to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre for a stretch.ĭuring their series on Broadway, they performed over 300 shows with great success. So in 2008, they started developing a Broadway-style format that followed the tradition of 1977’s Beatlemania.įinally, in 2010 their vision became a reality, and their Broadway show premiered on October, 26, 2010, at the Neil Simon Theatre, where it enjoyed an extensive run. After ranking on Pollstar’s Hot Top 20 list in 2008, they played in various well-known theaters for the next two years, including the prestigious Hollywood Pantages Theater.Īs with all high-end tribute bands, RAIN wanted to expand its scope. And in 1979, cultural icon Dick Clark hired the tribute band to record covers for the film Birth of The Beatles.Īfter 1980, the lineup changed (as it does in all tribute bands and original bands!), yet that didn’t stop RAIN’s momentum. In 1978, they performed for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Labor Day Telethon. Aside from the incredible sounds that brought back memories of ‘60s concerts, each member was spot on in replicating the personality of each member of the Beatles. During their live shows, you’d feel like you’re watching The Beatles. Originally, they’d play Beatles covers at the Mine Shaft in Calabasas. Meanwhile, Lineberry played John Lennon’s role, and Lewis was the keyboardist behind the stage. Coffey imitated Paul McCartney’s trademarks, while Connearney did so with George Harrison’s and Belotti with Ringo Starr’s. RAIN’s founding members were Grant Belotti, Steve Wight, Chuck Coffey, Bill Connearney, Eddie Lineberry, and Mark Lewis. RAIN references The Beatles’ 1966 single Rain. In 1975, RAIN (originally called “Reign”) began its run in Laguna Beach, California. With a heavy nod to the early, youthful, uber-pop version of The Beatles, when they first hit the charts, and every song was a hit, BRITAIN’S FINEST harkens back to a “simpler Beatles”, featuring some of the easiest-to-love rock ‘n roll of all-time.Īnd while the band has experimented over the years doing music from different eras, their fans always beg for the early version of The Beatles, and of course, BRITAIN’S FINEST is keen to please.
